Dr. Neeraj Dhamija expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Laparoscopic & Robotic) of the Abdomen with special interest in Pancreatic Surgery. Currently working as, a consultant in the Department of Laparoscopic & General Surgery in the prestigious Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi-India.
He got his Postgraduate Training in Surgery from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2006 where he was awarded with Dr. KC Mahajan Award for the best Post Graduate Student.
After his initial Post Graduate degree, he joined the prestigious Department of Gastro-Intestinal Surgery and Liver Transplantation and worked with doyens of Surgery like Prof. Samiran Nundy and Prof Adarsh Choudhary as a Gyan Burman Fellow. He got extensive experience of advanced Gastro-intestinal, Liver, Biliary & Pancreatic Surgery during this period.
He also worked in the Government sector and served for 2 years where he performed/assisted in more than 1500 surgeries (Laparoscopic & Traditional open surgery).
He was appointed as Consultant in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery in BLK hospital which is a tertiary care hospital in central Delhi. He served in this department for 2 years and performed/assisted in more than 1800 surgeries. During this period under the guidance of Dr. VP Bhalla and Dr. Deep Goel, he got special training in performing advanced Laparoscopic and Open Surgery for Gastrointestinal Malignancies especially Luminal GI and Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Neeraj Dhamija was awarded with the Fellowship of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (FIAGES) in Assam at the prestigious Swagath Hospital with course conducted by Dr. Subhash Khanna.
In 2013 he was appointed as Attending Consultant in the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital under the guidance of PadamShree Dr Saumitra Rawat. During this tenure he was actively involved in the teaching and training of the postgraduate students in the department of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver Transplantation. He also performed/assisted in more than 800 advanced Surgical procedures.
Dr. Neeraj Dhamija completed his training in the Da Vinci Robotic Surgery in Strasbourg, France with Prof VK Malik making him one of the few surgeons in India trained at this prestigious International Training Centre- IRCAD, France.
In 2015 he joined the Department of Laparoscopic & General Surgery with World Renowned Surgeon Prof Brij B Agarwal and formed an individual Unit with him. Prof Agarwal guided him to perform the most advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Gastrointestinal Surgery including Whipple’s procedure which was performed for the first time by Totally Minimally Invasive Robotic approach in India which was dually recognized. Prof Agarwal also introduced him to world leaders in the field of Surgery and improved the academic skills of him.
Dr. Neeraj Dhamija was awarded with Fellowship in advanced HPB surgery by Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons.
Dr. Neeraj Dhamija was recently appointed as the Editor of the Delhi State Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India.
He is actively involved in the teaching and training of the postgraduate Surgery Residents and trainees. He was appointed as Assistant Professor at The Ganga Ram Postgraduate Institute and Medical research. He is the invited faculty in many National and International Congress and meetings. He has also received recognition by various Surgical organizations both nationally and internationally.
